Hello,
I've been trying out a high protein "way of eating" this week, haven't had a slice of bread since last week, but not missing it much. Have had the pleasure of a Ryvita with Almond butter and no sugar cherry jam - that was interesting!
If its a very special Saturday then I have a bacon sandwich on white bread - I'm sorry but if you are going to have a bacon sandwich, have a proper one and don't insult the bacon by using brown bread. You don't need to go crazy and put butter on white bread with bacon - it doesn't need it! Just because you're eating a few slices of bacon and two slices of white bread, you don't have to lose the plot completely!
I can even seem to enjoy my tea with no sugar when it is accompanied by a bacon sandwich - mind over matter!
Anyway back to the reason this blog is called "Breakfast", you won't believe what I had - and I enjoyed it. I had tinned salmon rolled up in organic lettuce leaves with a little olive oil drizzled over them. This is not something I could face at 7.30 but having got up at a decent time and worked up a bit of an appetite, in the sunshine it went down a treat.
The obvious other high protein breakfast is bacon, egg and tomatoes - but you know that don't you? Cut the fat off the bacon before you cook it, even better, buy bacon medallions - the fat is already removed, thus avoiding temptation. Turkey rashers aren't THAT bad (who am I kidding!!)
I shall keep you updated on my new breakfast experiences!
Keep happy and fit!
Debra

Whopping poppies in Winchelsea
I love poppies, I have them on my curtains and on my rug, so take a look at these lovelies - by kind permission of the old man and lady at Shinglesea in Winchelsea!
Rye, Sussex Go to Salts Farm Shop,
Hi,
Just had a brillient, if somewhat knackering weekend at Camber.
Salts Farm Shop in Rye Sussex is a lovely farm shop with a little coffee area. Judith the owner is lovely, she made me smell the strawberries! She is addicted to jelly babies as well - aren't we all?
They do their own sausages and meat cuts, the sausages are excellent.

GI JANE Taster Day and walking over Easter
Hi,
Easter Sunday should be a day for friends, family, food and fun - well I was short changed on most of these. I spent the day with my friend Deborah on a GI Jane fitness day in deepest Kent, running around the massive garden, finding muscle groups I didn't know I had or even existed and used 4,000 calories in the day. Confession: all I was thinking about was the roast lamb I had waiting for me when I got home! It certainly went down a treat, although I did have visions of all the spring lambs I saw skipping about the previous day - sorry!!
On a serious note, it was encouraging to see bigger women embracing fitness.
I weigh 3 stone more than one of my friends, and she gets tired walking around Bluewater! I walk 10 miles regularly (at my own pace) - its a much cheaper way to spend a Saturday than a day at Bluewater!! Just for information, on a 10 mile walk I did 25,000 steps and used up 3,500 calories, spent about a tenner on contribution to petrol and food. Went to bed a happy bunny - if slightly sun kissed!
Buy a heart rate monitor and see how many more calories you burn, its a great incentive! Don't buy ANOTHER pair of shoes that pinch your feet, buy a decent pair of trainers (MBT's are so worth the money) and get walking. If you live near Bluewater, Sweaty Betty have a walking day on Sundays, there are all shapes and sizes, some women even borrow the next door neighbour's babies for extra ballast - I don't need any more of that thank you!! Its a cheap and easy way to get fit!

Only a man could do this!
If you are a keen walker, you will know all about kissing gates, so only a man could have put one beside a 10 foot gap!!
Did he get a kiss - only because it was his birthday!!
